“Picture That”
Mr. Scharad Lightbourne, nationally renowned photographer and designer, proved that dreams really can come true.
From fourteen years old, Scharad had a dream to become a fashion photographer which he from then on pursued. He overcame many challenges and is now enjoying the benefits. He credits most of his achievements to the Governor-General's Youth Award (GGYA). He explains here why.
“At first being in the Governor-General’s Youth Award (GGYA), I thought it was just something to occupy my time. As I moved further in the programme, I realized that it taught me valuable life lessons like teamwork, versatility, problem solving not to mention the ultimate benefit, seeing a lot of the other beautiful islands in my very own country.
Now that I am a Gold Award Holder, I now see the value of what it is to have gone through this excellent programme. It helps me when I’m doing creative projects by myself or working along with others. There is no doubt in my mind that not only starting this programme but completing it will greatly enhance anyone's life and ability to achieve goals.
That’s my take on the GGYA.”
